Beau Durrant

Hi. I'm Beau Durrant

. . . a software engineer living in Calgary, Canada.

I've been writing code since high school; working with scripted & compiled; synchronous & asynchronous; high & low level; object oriented & functional programming languages.

After University my first professional experience was at Evolvs Media Inc. I had the opportunity to work on many exciting start-up and corporate websites including; iStockPhoto, 3Point5, Calgary Public Library, Newalta, Alberta Securities Exchange, Petersco, Nascor & Plug Music Awards to name a few. I was also involved in creating an online store and blog to promote indy music artists from Orange Record Label, Definitive Jux & Epitaph Records.

A few years later Evolvs was acquired by Getty Images. We were given the challenge to monetize a number of assets they had in their inventory. We created community and search websites as well as maintaining life.com.

To continue my experience in the start-up community I went to work at video production agency V Strategies where we created a corporate on-line video platform under the brand JetVideo. It included a video library, video player and presentation builder. Also built into this platform was a custom ad platform and pay-per-view access for live and on-demand presentations. Some of our clients included; TEDx, ATCO, University of Calgary, ATB, Smart Technologies, Enbridge, Calgary Economic Development & First Energy.

Living in Calgary working in the energy industry is almost inevitable. I moved to Connect2Wow working on an ERP application to help manage operations for building processing plants and facilities. My main responsibility was to work with process and mechanical engineers creating new systems to ensure quality assurance during the initial planning and drafting phases.

Shortly after, I transitioned into medical devices and was employed at Circle Cardiovascular Imaging. I worked with a small team looking at new technologies and building possible solutions for cardiovascular doctors to help their patients.

Recently I've been taking it easy with my family, doing a little contract work, helping some friends and running a small business (recently sold). After a little down time I'm ready for a new opportunity.
